The Karnataka Incubation Foundation (K.I.F.) in Dharwad is making a significant contribution to the development of rural areas. The foundation is primarily engaged in enhancing the living standards of rural populations through skill development, educational advancement, entrepreneurship, and agricultural training.

As part of its “Akshara Abhiyana” (Literacy Campaign), K.I.F. operates free literacy centres in various villages. In a recent initiative, the foundation organized “Craft Training” workshop for the government school children of Mangalgatti village, Dharwad on Sunday, September 1, 2024. This special program was aimed to foster creativity, skills, and artistic abilities in children, complementing their academic curriculum. The workshop was conducted by expert resource persons. It is designed to enhance cognitive and intellectual capabilities among students.

Smt. Veena Athavale, a retired teacher and national award winner inaugurated the event. She highlighted the significance of daily attendance at the Akshara Kendra, noting that it enables children to explore and discover new subjects. Shri. Ashwin Bhusare, Director of K.I.F., emphasised that craft training enhances children’s skills while stimulating their intellectual growth.

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests Shri. Mrityunjaya Akki, a noted social worker, and Shri. Shaikhargoud Gowdar, President of the Mangalgatti Government School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC). Shri. Ninganagouda Patil and Dr. Sunanda Kalakannavar graced the event with their presence.

The craft training program engaged 10 male and 35 female students from 4th to 8th grade. The participants enthusiastically took part in various craft activities, including paper crafts, making paper hats, and creating decorative flowers from colored paper. The students showcased their joy and creativity through these hands-on activities.

Through such initiatives, the Karnataka Incubation Foundation continues to make valuable contributions toward the holistic development of rural communities, fostering growth and providing value-based education.
